My Pillow UK Review (2024)

Last updated: 31.10.2023 Reading time: 12 Min.

It's not often that a pillow turns into a TV advertising sensation.

But MyPillow (or, My Pillow) by American businessman Mike Lindell has undoubtedly taken the world by storm.

They've sold over 50 million pillows in the USA and Canada. 🇺🇸

This sensationalist pillow is now available in the UK and manufactured in Coventry.

But is the MyPillow any good, or is it all just media hype?

We'll take a closer look in this MyPillow UK review. 👇

MyPillow alternatives

Given the sketchy tactics My Pillow UK used in the past and the less-than-amazing reputation of this brand, you may want to consider some of our favourite MyPillow alternatives before even deep-diving into this review.

These are all from tried-and-trusted brands that we've had great experiences with!

Our favourite UK pillows:

MyPillow composition

MyPillow is advertised as "The World's Most Comfortable Pillow" - quite a claim to be making.

But, then again, there's nothing low-key about MyPillow's marketing strategy. 📺

So, what makes this pillow unique?

Two MyPillow options are available in the UK, the MyPillow Classic and the MyPillow Premium, though you'll only get the Premium one on Amazon.

BUY MYPILLOW£ 128.11

MyPillow
MyPillow contains a patented interlocking fill - i.e. shredded pieces of memory foam.

The cover and filling are the same, though the Premium version is available with different fill levels.

There are two parts to the MyPillow, the cover and the filling:

  • Cover: 100% cotton
  • Filling: 100% shredded open-cell polyurethane foam

Let's take a closer look at the filling. 🧐

Patented interlocking fill

The unique patented interlocking fill the MyPillow is advertised with is basically shredded pieces of memory foam.

This makes the MyPillow unique. ⭐️

Other memory foam pillows, like the Emma pillow or the Brightr Eclipse pillow, feature a one-piece foam layer.

MyPillow hug
The MyPillow has the feel of a traditional down pillow.

This gives you that distinct "sinking into the foam" feeling you'd expect from memory foam.

The shredded foam in the MyPillow, in contrast, gives it the feel of a traditional down pillow.

This completely changes the way you'll sleep on the MyPillow - something we'll explore in more detail further below. 👇

Interestingly, the Simba Hybrid Pillow has a similar construction, relying on individual memory foam nanocubes as filling.

Alternative one-piece memory foam pillows

You can consider the suggestions below if you prefer one-piece memory foam pillows.

These are also fully customisable options.

Our favourite layered memory foam pillows:

What does it feel like to sleep on the MyPillow?

The shredded foam in the MyPillow has been designed to cradle your head while you're sleeping.

This eliminates pressure and discomfort to offer you a good night's sleep. 😴

Soft, cushioning support

The MyPillow is available in three different fill (and three different firmness) levels, so there isn't just one subjective experience of the pillow.

But, the unique filling gives it an overall feel that applies to all fill levels.

The MyPillow filling is soft, foldable, and responds well to pressure.

This means you can fluff it up for more loft or flatten it out to achieve even pressure distribution.

MyPillow
MyPillow feels more like a down pillow than a traditional memory foam pillow.

Because it contains shredded foam, the MyPillow won't give you that "sink-into-the-foam" feeling you'd expect from memory foam.

Instead, it feels a lot fluffier and more cushiony. ⛅️

You'll have to fluff up your My Pillow

But, this shredding also means that the fill isn't as resilient and tends to lump together.

BUY MYPILLOW£ 128.11

For example, when you receive the pillow, it's likely to be flat and fluffless.

The My Pillow company recommends that every MyPillow should be put into the dryer for 15 minutes before use to get it to its full fluff capacity. 🧺

Similarly, you may need to pop the pillow into the tumbler dryer whenever it feels lumpy.

Well-suited to your sleep position

The MyPillow is not adjustable like some of the other premium memory foam pillows, where you can add or remove layers or filling to match the pillow to your sleep position and preferences.

MyPillow spinal alignment
MyPillow promises optimal spinal alignment no matter your sleeping position.

But you have the option of choosing different MyPillow fill levels to cater to different sleeping positions and firmness levels.

You'll do this before hitting the checkout button, so make sure you choose the fill level that's right for you!

MyPillow different fill levels
Choose your desired fill level - or take the "find your fill level" quiz to help you decide.

Different fill levels are categorised by colour. 🌈

In the UK, these include:

Colour Fill level Firmness level Best suited to
🟡 Yellow Least fill Soft Stomach sleepers
⚪️ White Medium fill Medium Back sleepers
🟢 Green Most fill Firm Side sleepers

In the USA, there is a fourth fill level.

This is the Blue (most firm) fill. 🔵

  • So which fill level should you choose?
  • Which option wins in the My Pillow medium vs firm debate?
  • And which My Pillow is best for side sleepers?

Luckily, there are "easy" answers to these questions.

Different fill levels would be best for different sleep positions. 👌

Let's look at this in a tad more detail.

Which MyPillow is best for front sleepers?

Stomach sleepers who like a softer, flatter pillow would be most comfortable on the yellow (least fill) MyPillows. 🟡

These are thin enough to allow your head to lay flat on the mattress.

This, in turn, helps your spine remain in neutral alignment. 📏

MyPillow stomach sleeper
Stomach sleepers need a flatter pillow.

Neutral spinal alignment is important to eliminate neck pain and upper back pain.

Which option of My Pillow UK should back sleepers choose?

The white fill level, which has a little more stuffing, will be more comfortable for back sleepers. ⚪️

It offers enough support to fill the space between your neck and the mattress, but it's still soft enough for your head to sink into the foams and not be pushed up too much.

MyPillow Back Sleeper
Back sleepers will do well on a medium-fill pillow.

This is important because you want your spine to remain aligned.

If your head is pushed up too much, you're likely to wake up with a stiff neck.

If you struggle with a sore neck or shoulders, you may want to look into a pillow for neck pain or invest in a massage gun to help you relieve some of that tension.

The yellow (least fill) pillow will probably not offer enough support for back sleepers, while the green (most fill) pillow will probably offer too much loft and not enough sinkage.

What's the best My Pillow for side sleepers?

The green pillow would be the best option for side sleepers [1]. 🟢

It has enough filling to prop your head up sufficiently and fill the space between neck and mattress, but it’s still soft enough to allow for comfort and gentle sinkage.

Unfortunately, numerous side sleepers have noted that you can feel the chunks of memory foam against your cheek.

MyPillow side sleeper
Side sleepers need a pillow with more loft to fill the space between neck and mattress.

This can be quite uncomfortable.

If this is an issue, sleeping on your back is probably the best option if you opt for a MyPillow.

MyPillow cover

The MyPillow cover is made from 100% cotton, designed to be soft, comfortable, and breathable.

Many customer pillow reviews, however, lament the fact that the MyPillow sleeps quite warm.

Memory foam retains more heat. 🥵

If there aren't any other cooling mechanisms in place, it makes sense that the pillow would be quite warm.

The Simba Hybrid Pillow, which also features memory foam, for example, has active cooling technology and a mesh panel to allow for enhanced airflow and breathability.

You can also find a range of cooling pillows that aim for a more comfortable sleep. ❄️

You could purchase the MyPillow Giza cotton pillowcases with a sateen weave for extra breathability and a cooler touch, but this is unlikely to change the heat build-up within the actual pillow.

Another common My Pillow complaint is that you can feel the chunks of memory foam through the pillow, particularly in the side sleeping position.

Pillows like the Simba Hybrid have thick covers to prevent this from happening.

MyPillow washing instructions

Conveniently, the MyPillow is fully machine-washable.

You can simply pop it in the machine for a regular wash.

You can wash the pillow cold or warm and use any detergent, but avoid fabric softeners. 🧼

MyPillow in washing machine
The My Pillow can simply be popped into the machine for a wash.

This is great, as most pillows cannot be washed!

Usually, you're only able to wash the pillow cover.

The Kally Sleep adjustable pillow, though, is also washable - and it's a great customisable pillow with multiple layers of hollowfibre foam. 🛀

Can you tumble dry the MyPillow?

The MyPillow can also be tumble dried.

In fact, popping it into the dryer is recommended to puff up the foams and give you the best experience.

Tumble dry on high heat without dryer balls, fabric softener, or dryer sheets.

MyPillow size

The MyPillow comes in a single size of 48 x 76 cm (18 x 29 inches).

This is pretty standard for pillows.

pillow sizes

The actual loft of the pillow will change according to the fill level you’ve chosen.

What does the MyPillow cost?

The MyPillow price will vary according to which option you go for.

On the MyPillow UK website, the following are available with recommended retail prices (RRP).:

  • MyPillow Classic Pillow (£)
  • MyPillow Premium Pillow (££)
  • MyPillow Premium Pillows 2-Pack (££)

On Amazon, you can currently only purchase the My Pillow Premium.

BUY MYPILLOW£ 128.11

MyPillow is competitively priced and one of the more budget options on the market - in contrast to some of the more expensive options from other bed-in-a-box brands.

Note, though, that the cost of the MyPillow on Amazon is significantly higher than if you purchase through the company directly.

MyPillow promo code and special offers

MyPillow runs regular promotions, and you're likely to pick up a discounted pillow - especially if you're going for one of the 2-pack options!

These are usually available on a "buy one, get one free" basis.

In the past, My Pillow UK offered customers a discounted price with a promo code but didn't make this promo code easily available.

And they only offered a very limited "buy one, get one free" deal. 😳

Luckily, this seems to have changed, and the My Pillow company seems to have upped its game since first launching in the UK.

MyPillow reviews & criticisms

MyPillow poses quite a conundrum as there are almost as many negative My Pillow reviews as there are positive ones. 🤯

You'll undoubtedly find quite a few MyPillow complaints on the internet!

The best way to explain this is that one’s experience of the pillow largely depends on the fill level chosen and what the preferred sleep position is.

If, for example, a side sleeper has chosen the yellow pillow with the least fill, it’s likely to be uncomfortable.

But there are also many other features of the pillow that give MyPillow a shady reputation.

Mike Lindell MyPillow
CEO Mike Lindell advertises his MyPillow.

Lumpy foam

One of the most common MyPillow complaints is that you can feel the shredded pieces of foam through the cover - especially if you sleep on your stomach or side.

But just as many My Pillow reviews don’t mention this at all and claim that the pillow has given them the best sleep of their lives. 🛌

Maybe some MyPillows don’t have the same quality as others, or maybe the customers who feel the foam pieces didn’t pop the pillow in the dryer to fluff it up, as recommended.

The pillow doesn’t keep its shape well after washing, so you definitely need to fluff it up afterwards.

But since the pillow cover is quite thin, it could be completely possible to feel the actual pieces of foam.

The Simba Hybrid pillow, which also has individual foam cubes, has quite a thick cover so that you don’t end up feeling the individual pieces of foam.

Sketchy marketing tactics

MyPillow is all about its marketing.

But, in the past, My Pillow has used numerous sketchy marketing techniques, which we're not fans of.

Advertising a discounted product with a promo code but not providing that promo code to customers, for example, isn’t a great way to win trust and loyalty.

Similarly, the "buy one, get one free” offer My Pillow used to run came with very unclear conditions, which don't aid customer trust either.

Was this offer a scam, or did it really exist?

mypillow buy one get one free
This offer was popular in the past but never seemed to work out for us.

Many customers said that they had bought the pillow with one of these offers in the past, though we tried numerous times and weren't successful.

Luckily, the company seems to have turned a new leaf - in the UK, at least - and we haven't encountered any more recent marketing tactics that seemed a tad shady. 🍃

What else does MyPillow UK offer?

MyPillow may have started as a pillow company, but it's no longer just that.

In the UK, MyPillow also offers:

  • My Pillow bedsheets
  • My Pillow pillowcases
  • My Pillow travel pillows
  • My Pillow travel dog beds

The company has a much bigger selection in the US, where you’ll find a number of other pillows, a mattress topper, slippers, blankets, towels, and even MyPillow mattresses. 🇺🇸

Surprisingly, My Pillow mattress reviews are actually quite favourable, and the company boasts encased coil and all-foam mattresses.

We have yet to try the My Pillow mattress and can't verify claims that it actually provides a decent sleep.

But why not try one of our tried-and-tested best mattresses that are available in the UK?

MyPillow UK delivery conditions

The My Pillow UK is delivered within 1 - 3 business days to any address in the United Kingdom or Ireland. 🇬🇧

You'll get free delivery for all orders over £40.

For orders under this, the shipping fee will be calculated upon checkout.

MyPillow needs to be fluffed up

My Pillows UK are delivered rolled up and compressed in a plastic bag, much like bed-in-a-box memory foam mattresses. 📦

It’s likely to look flat when you first unpack it, as the foam chunks need some time to expand.

MyPillow actually recommends that you place the pillow in a tumble dryer on high heat for 15 minutes.

This fluffs up the pillow.

MyPillow box
The MyPillow box is only for demonstration purposes - the actual pillow is delivered in a plastic bag.

If you don’t have a tumble dryer, you can also give the foams time to expand.

This can take up to 12 hours. ⏰

But, we really wouldn’t recommend buying the MyPillow if you don’t have a tumble dryer.

The memory foam pieces lump together often, and fluffing them up in the tumble dryer seems to be the best solution.

Buy MyPillow via Amazon

We're not fans of paying for delivery, so we prefer purchasing via Amazon.

The MyPillow Classic, unfortunately, is not available via Amazon in the UK.

But, you will be able to purchase the MyPillow Premium - albeit at a much higher price.

BUY MYPILLOW£ 128.11

MyPillow trial period

While the MyPillow doesn’t come with a risk-free trial period, there is a 60-day money-back guarantee.

If you return the pillow for any reason within 60 days, you’ll get a full refund. 💰

But, the customer will have to organise and pay for the return, which is a huge inconvenience.

We prefer the completely risk-free 200-day trial period the Emma pillow comes with, where Emma organises and pays for all returns.

The Panda memory foam pillow also comes with a good 30-day trial period.

MyPillow guarantee

The MyPillow comes with a 10-year guarantee on any workmanship and/or material defects.

This is considerably longer than the warranty period for other pillows we’ve tried. 🥳

The Emma Pillow, for example, has a 2-year guarantee, while the Simba Pillow only has a 1-year guarantee.

Is the MyPillow UK a good pillow?

My Pillow UK is an extremely well-marketed pillow and has many favourable customer reports.

But, customer reports are 50/50 - some say they love the pillow and others say they hate it.

BUY MYPILLOW£ 128.11

We think it could suit you perfectly if you're looking for a fully washable pillow and are pretty knowledgeable about the height and firmness you need.

But we also think you'd be better off opting for the Simba Hybrid Pillow if budget isn't a problem.
